The Manor Golf Club is situated 15 minutes from the centre of Grimsby on the A18 (Barton Street), in a rural countryside setting, completely surrounded by farmland and with views of the edge of the Wolds. The Grimsby Institute purchased the Club in 2007, and there is a long-term development plan in place, to make The Manor the premier golfing venue in the region.

Work initially began in transforming farmland into a golf course in 1990, the first 9 holes were officially opened by Michael Bonallack in June 1992 and since then the course has been extended to 18 holes.

The design and layout was undertaken by Mr Dewar Wishart from the Sports Turf Research Institute in conjunction with the original owners of the course. Those who have played it find it both challenging and interesting to all levels of golfers.

The first 7 holes of the course are all tree lined giving them the feel of a parkland course. Now that the trees have matured accuracy rather than distance produces the winning shots. Holes 8 to 16 have wider, more open fairways. Trees are in evidence, but not in such large numbers, however gorse plantations and meandering waterways running alongside and through the fairways mean that concentration has to be maintained. The 17th hole brings you back to the original 9 holes with a challenging par 5 doglegged hole, and your round is completed with a very tight par 4.

The course in the main is flat, but with plenty of interesting undulations. This makes for easy walking for golfers of all ages. All the greens have automatic watering and those on the new course in particular have undulations and borrows making them not so easy to read. Apart from 4 holes the ladies have separate tees.

The club operates a booked tee system 7 days a week and as long as the club rules are observed all golfers are welcomed.
